#2 Jack's Mannequin- People and Things

I really dont think i need to write much about JM. We all know i love this band. If you want to know the back stories of theses songs here you go. http://www.youtube.com/user/jacksmannequintv

#3 Thrice- Major/Minor

I honestly have to start out by saying my top 3 were in a huge battle until last night. For the longest time this was going to be my #1 ever after i got cds 2 and 1. I'm putting this as my #3 because, i cant really pick this cd about, and describe why i like it so much. I just like this cd alot as a whole. This is thrice's 8th cd. Now there last 4 cd's were only ok (i did like circles alot), but this cd just really jumped out at me. Critics are now starting to call thrice the American radiohead, where each cd they put out is completely different than there last cd, but is hugely better. Now this isnt the screamo (or whatever you really want to define them as) cd that thrice is normally use to. There is some deep rock to it that you cant put your finger on but you just like. Now i guess you can say im getting older so my music taste is slowly starting to grow up, but now in my late 20's (30 next month). I kind of have to say that this cd might be the beginning of something new im getting into, Even though ive always been a fan of this music. Again this almost made it to my #1 spot, but i just cant pick apart why i love this cd so much, but the song that sicks out the most is one called "Anthology" just the perfect mixture of vocals and guitar riffs with fx's to it. I think if your looking for something different Major/Minor is it

#4 Matt Nathanson- Modern Love

You have to know about Matt Nathason, if you don't than you better start. I honestly think Matt is the most widyest songwriters today. His 7th album Modern Love captures that greatness of love, or todays modern love. The first song "Faster" is a great way to kick start the cd. With lyrics like "you're so delicious" it has that feeling like he's looking at the prettyest girl in the world. The song also has this great acoustic guitar feel to it. My favorite song off the cd i think is one of those self explanatory. "Room At The End Of The World" has just the simple formula for a great awesome pop song, because what are you going to do "if the sun wont rise, and the night wont turn"? The last song i'm going to talk about is the new single called "Run" (Feat. Jennifer Nettles And Kristian Bush). It's just one of those perfect love songs that has this build up all the way though the song, and perfect back round vocal with it's "oh o oh o". Modern Love is one of those cds i think that you can listen with that special someone, and i think is the cd what will push Matt Nathanson more into popularity.

#5 The Dangerous Summer- War Paint

The only new band added to this years list. The Dangerous Summer kind of has a simi Jimmy Eat World feel to them. There 2nd full length War Paint has that perfect blend of everything you can want in a cd. There cd starts out with the title track "War Paint." It has that feeling of seeing a band you never seen or heard before, if you were at a little show, and instantly when the chorus kicks in you know right than that your going to love this band. The 3rd track of the cd was there 2nd single (and my favorite song off this cd) "No One's Is Going To Need You More." I really think, if this song got radio play, it would of been a intent hit. It really has that vibe that you would listen to this heading down to the beach. The last song I'm going to talk about is the last song on the album called "Waves." This song just has that nice closing out feeling that every cd should have. That you left satisfied, like you had closer to something awesome. This wasn't the cd of the summer, but it's pretty close. I think its a good cd if your are looking for something new to latch onto for a while, but it's a cd diffidently worth checking out.

Who ever invinted writers block should be shot

or worse make them, write none stop and get fucking writers cramp till the end of time. I bring this up because, sense ive gotten laid off, from time to time i'll get a kind of cool idea for a sitcom or a dramady movie. Like i start really good characters, and i know where i want to start to take them, but then......nothing, and i really think people would like these characters (im not going to say what they are, there my ideas). i know it take time for things like this to take off and go somewhere but, just like a heading or something, i guess thats why in most shows the creater is 2 people. just like now where to take this blog post haha.

Super 8

I grew up in the 80's. I first movie my parents ever took me to was E.T. When i got older i watched other great 80's movies, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Stand by Me, The Explorers, and The Thing. That is that this movie is, all of them rolled up into one. This movie has nostalgic written all over it. I just want to say that i really really love this movie. When i first saw the teaser of this movie was with the midnight showing of Iron Man 2, and as soon as i saw it i knew right than and there i was going to the midnight showing of this film. 7 months later super bowl Sunday was the first viewing of anything of this movie. Just the start alone with the music (witch sounds so much like John Williams), and seeing that Ambin (Steven's Production company) i really felt like i was 6 years old ago again. After that every time when i saw the trailer at the movie theater i more i wanted to see it. Than the day before opening night they release the film early so June 9th i saw the 1040 showing. Let me say from the opening till the end i loved this film. It really felt it was directed by Steven himself just louder and with lens flares (JJ Abrams (the director) signature.) The magic of the film really goes to the kids of this film witch gave it that Stand by Me feel to it. That you were on adventure with them. With out giving too much away of this film (for those that haven't seen it) It's almost like an old 1950's B movie where the kids see something but no one believes them, and its up to them to stop it or really get the word out. This is the only real summer original film thats coming out, and i strongly urge you to go out, and see this film more than once. I found my self enjoying it more the 2nd viewing. If your an honest huge movie buff that grew up in the 80's with films that you still talk about and love today i really think you will enjoy Super 8. It hits all the right key moments and on the inside your going to feel like a kid again. I turely give it a 10 out of 10

the old days

So ive been playing a game lately called L.A Noire, and i really like it. I for some reason always liked the old days 30-40's like the mobster times. I think if i was born in that time i would of been a huge bank robber like John Dillinger or a PI like in those old movies where someone gets killed in the start, and a blonde women walks into the office, but of coarse in the end it was always her. No matter what i would be awesome with a tommy gun

Nostalgic: Jimmy Eat World- Bleed American

Jimmy Eat World (or JEW to their fans), is one of the first indie/emo bands to break out main stream. It wasn’t until there 4th cd when they broke out huge with their cd Bleed American (or Jimmy Ear World after 9/11). It was something big and loud at the time, and something fresh, it was the right blend of the underground music that was that was making a huge up rise, with a blend of the main stream music that was getting played on every day on TRL (back when MTV did still play music). The cd opens with the title track Bleed American, it’s one of those songs that really gabs you by the collar, and makes you listen. It’s edgy, and at a live show even if they were the opening band. The song will wake you up. Just like any live show the next song is something were you would introduce yourselves, and that brings me to A Praise Chorus. It’s a song were I believe Jimmy Eat World says now that we woke you up, this is what we really sound like, it’s also where you can start to see Jim (yes the lead singer is named Jim) humanize with himself witch is a great blend of harmony and voice work. The Middle, the song that broke them out into superstardom. This is the perfect single. Honestly if this song came out today I would break out my iPhone and use the shazam app to found out who this band is (it also helps that the video was hot). It’s really hard to describe this song and just how wonder and great it is, and I think it was also great that every radio station played this song. Even county cover bands played this song. I think it was also great that it was a summer song, it made you want to have a great time. Skipping to their next single was Sweetness. Sweetness also topped the radio charts for months on end. It also showed that they had some staying power.  The fact that, they were just more than a one hit wonder (which was almost a trend around that time). Then comes along a song called Here You Me. This song is about Mykel and Carli Allen, the women who ran the Weezer fan club. They died in a car accident driving back from a Weezer concert. They would often look for up and coming bands and would give them a place to stay. The line, "There's no one in town I know, you gave us some place to go" is talking about how when they would be in town for a concert and didn't know anyone, they stayed with Mykel and Carli, who gave them a place to stay. This Song is still played at almost every JEW show, and it can still bring a tear some someone’s eyes. The last song I want to point out is My Sundown. JEW has kind of a tradition to have epic closing on their albums. It just a nice quiet song with harmonies (with Rachel Haden who also sang on Here You Me) and an acoustic guitar. I think it’s a great closer and a wonderful way to close out an epic album (though I always still wonder about the out of sync drum in the back round).  I think this is a great album that anyone of any music fan could like, and get in to. It has that fresh and new sound to it. I still till this day love this album, and it’s one of my top 10 favorite albums that I have ever bought. The year is now 2011, and 3 albums later JEW still holds up the test of time as one of the best break out bands ever of the music I listen too, and I hope that I still love JEW 10 years from now as I did back then in 2001 when I first discovered Jimmy Eat World.

Got to start somewhere

( this is my 2nd post first one got deleted so if this seems off im trying to remember what i said the first time)....So i've come to a point in my life where i just feel like i have something to say and i want people to hear it. I guess you you can say im going to start with going on in my life right now. In 3 weeks im getting laid off from the company im working at. Now ive been laid off before, but this time, it feels different, well first i can say i know its coming they told me. Witch i really like, i can spend less and prepare for it. I have like 19 days of vacation that im going to get paid out (i never went any where), all my stock, and severance pay. There is where im kind of upset at. its like really this is all im getting, ive been here 3 years, never asked for a raise, and this is all im worth? I guess you can say i feel really bitter about the reasoning. That im not good enough and there not going to train me for the new building. It's also hard because i have never met my new boss in person sense our companies has merged. He's out of NJ, and I'm here in CA. Now there was a lack of communication on both parts. On his end because he expected a lot from me witch i didn't know what he wanted because he never asked, and maybe i should of asked him everyday what should i do, other than continue to do the job i was doing. Now i am not degrading him or the company, but its one of those things where you think about are they really thinking this though. I'm not saying that because i am losing my job, but more alongs the company wise. you see were moving to a new building and it was my job to see everything though. Whos going to take care of that when im gone? Now im at a point in my life where i want my next job to be something i want to do more than 3 years, something where i can walk in and enjoy it (more than just going in for the people). Like right know i feel like i want to be a writer, like concert reviews, interview bands, review cd's......If you ever known me, than you know i have always been passionate about music, and i guess you can say that started when my mom passed away. It was the only thing i felt that was there for me at that time, because i was just starting high school, i have vary few friends, and your at point in your life where your just now trying to think of who you are as a person, your trying to find your place in the world. I guess also im bitter because, just the depression of finding a new job. It took me a long time to get this one and i had to go though a temp agency to get it. I dont really want to do that unless i know for sure its a perm spot. I dont want to get a 3 month job and lose the unemployment could be getting. I should be fine for a while with my leave package if i did the math right (but i always hated math). its just one of those things like what to do now. where to go? I dont want to be stuck in my room all the time searching for a job like last time, and i can only go to the mall so many times. I got lots of people here that has my back, and are going to try to keep there eye out for me, they to also feel bad and thing its wrong why am i getting let go. So its good i got a support system here, and i can use anyone as contacts. I'm sure i'll find something that will land me on my feet, and really really do hope its something i want to do for a vary long time.
